Las Vegas (NV) - Konami has announced the release date for the upcoming exclusive Playstation 3 title Metal Gear Solid 4.

The game is expected to be one of the PS3’s biggest titles of the year, and is among the most lucrative exclusives for the Sony platform so far.

According to the official Playstation blog, MGS 4 has been slated for a June 12 release date in all major regions around the world, including the US. Fully titled Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of the Patriots, the game is the latest adventure for iconic gaming figure Solid Snake.

When the game goes on sale, Sony will also roll out a special edition PS3 console, an 80 GB unit that includes MGS 4 for the standard console price of around $500.
