RAF shows off fancy all-in-one helmet for pilots
It’s all modcons these days, but modcon is an understatement for this invention that is set to be the future for RAF pilots.
The helmet is, quite frankly, terrifying. There’s little else to say regarding it’s appearance other than show you a picture. . .
Are we right ? Isn’t it scary ?
The helmet uses cameras all around the outside of the aircraft to give the pilot a panoramic view of everything around him for the best situational awareness. Sensors detect movement so that when the pilot moves his head the view projected onto the inside of his visor changes accordingly.
Basically, it does a whole bunch of stuff that pilots can do normally only right in front of their faces. Think of it as the RAFs washer-drier combo. Now, bets on whether it’ll be delivered on time, on budget and working quite as well as expected........ ?
