Apple Announces New T-Bolt, Quad-core iMacs
Apple has announced a refresh for its iMac line, adding in support for Intel’s Thunderbolt technology and next generation quad-core CPUs.
Those of you holding off on purchasing an iMac because you were expecting a refresh any day can breathe easy and prepare for a little shopping, because Apple today announced the new line. The 2011 models marry Intel’s quad-core Core i-series CPUs with AMD Radeon HD graphics and a little Thunderbolt action for good measure. Facetime users will be pleased to note that the new iMacs will ship with support for that, too.
Prices start at just under $1,200 for the 21.5-inch model, which boasts Intel’s 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 CPU, AMD’s Radeon HD 6750M graphics and a 500GB HDD. Things go up from there, with a 21.5-inch, 2.7 GHz quad-core Core i5, AMD Radeon HD 6770M and 1TB hard drive configuration driving the price up to $1,499.
There are also two new 27-inch iMac options: one with a 2.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, AMD Radeon HD 6770M and 1TB hard drive for $1,699; and one with a 3.1 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, AMD Radeon HD 6970M and 1TB hard drive for $1,999. Shoppers can upgrade to faster Core i7 processors (up to 3.4 GHz), additional hard drive capacity (up to 2TB), a 256GB solid state drive, and additional RAM at extra costs.

No thanks, i've actually heard of something called value for money.
Current gen core-i or previous gen?
Cheap ass video cards (again and again and again)
Again good looking overpriced products from Apple.

I bet Intel never heard of the concept of "value for money".
Looks good, great CPU and given it sports an IPS-panel and it's Apple, the price is very reasonable. This looks like the least overpriced thing in Apple's line-up.
Not a gamer's choice of course (the GPU is still too weak for serious high res gaming, given it's a mobile model), but it looks like a fabulous desktop overall.
If only the GPU was a bit more powerful, I'd consider this (and that's coming from a true die hard Apple hater). Okay, Mac OS X is insecure, but that's nothing common sense and an antivirus can't fix (besides, most vulnerabilities in OS X are due to Safari, so just using Chrome or FF improves security dramatically already).
You have to be fair. These new iMacs are brilliant. The engineering is superb. Apple computers are server grade; there is even a Mac Mini server which is their lowest line of computers.
You get what you pay for - quality, reliability, excellent customer service and free from 99.9% of viruses.
There is no all-in-one PC that can stand up to it or is of the same caliber - nothing is comparable.
The RADEON 6970M is a brilliant GPU especially for an iMac, albeit not for serious over-clocking gamers. It will handle and play all of the latest games either natively, or via bootcamp. It is not 'cheapass'.
To say Mac OS X is insecure is a gross erroneous statement. 99.9% of Mac owners have never experienced a virus, do not have to pay for additional antivirus software nor feel the need. Mac OS X is the best OS available in the world in terms of security, user friendliness and support overall.
FACT: You cannot build an all-in-one like this, so give it the credit it deserves.
FACT: A PC with the exact specification of hardware, screen, loaded with a legitimate OS using SERVER GRADE COMPONENTS will cost more.
You cannot compare a new iMac with something that Joe Bloggs puts together using cheap non-server grade components. All of the components inside a Mac are tuned, designed and optimised both in terms of hardware and software for the Mac.
BOTTOMLINE:
The general public majority who do not fall into the category of overclockers and or serious gamers should buy a Mac if they can afford it. It is a wise investment and Microsoft Office is available for the Mac.
The world minority who are overclockers, serious gamers, pc building enthusiasts should stick to PC.
