QinetiQ sues BAE for blowing up arms research lab
Defence research firm QinetiQ is suing Britain’s largest arms manufacturer, BAE Systems, for blowing up one of their laboratories.
QinetiQ is an international defence and security company who is a leading supplier of defence research to government organisations such as the UK Ministry of Defence and the US Department of Defense.
QinetiQ laboratory in Cody Technology Park, Farnborough suffered a reported £1.3m in damages when one of the arms manufacturer’s scientists allegedly started a fire on the property. QinetiQ’s insurance company are insisting that BAE foot the bill for the damages.
BAE refused to comment on the issue saying that the project in the QinetiQ lab was confidential and that they could not comment on the case. QinetiQ in turn refused to comment on the issue saying that the court case was being conducted on their behalf by their insurers so that they could recover their losses. QintiQ said that out of respect for the case it would be inappropriate to make a statement at this time.
