Kilkenny PodCamp
The Irish junior minister for trade and commerce will, tomorrow, officially open Ireland’s first ever PodCamp. The events aim is to promote podcasts and other new media methods.
The event is a sort of casual unconference where the attendees discuss chosen topics in a non-formal fashion with a relaxed atmosphere. There is no charge for attending the camp so anyone who registers on the website is free to attend.
The PodCamp offers both techies and non-techies a chance to learn about podcasts. Everything from making a podcast to how they can be useful in a business.
PodCamp Ireland is inspired by FooCamp, an event started by Tim O’Reilly, the Irish-born publisher who is father of the phrase web 2.0.
Brian Greene of podcast production company Talking Voices is organising the event with the help of marketing and branding strategist Krishna De, who moonlights as a blogging and podcast advocate.
PodCamp Ireland will be held in Kilkenny City on Saturday September 29th in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel with a start time of 10am.
The event is, among others, sponsored by Microsoft and Blacknight.
