PlayStation division shifts 5 million PS3s
Foster City (CA) - Sony released its financial data for the last quarter in 2007, showing a $100+ million profit in the Playstation division for the first time since the Playstation 3 launch.
During the time frame of October to December, the third quarter of Sony’s fiscal year, Sony sold 4.9 million PS3 units and 5.76 million PSPs. It also sold 26 million PS3 games.
In total, the Playstation business saw a profit of around $121 million, a huge change from the $509 million loss during the same quarter last year.
This led the entire Sony company to reach $1.88 billion, the highest quarterly profit in the company’s history.
