Palm to close down all US retail storefronts

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

Sunnyvale (CA) - All of Palm’s 34 retail locations, including 26 within US airports, will be shut down in the coming months as the mobile device manufacturer faces continuing sales declines.

Palm operates eight brick-and-mortar store locations throughout the country, and has retail space in 26 Airport Wireless stores. The company has announced it plans to close every one of these.

Palm has struggled over the past few years, with Blackberry taking away its hold on the business customer market. As such, it has consolidated many of its divisions and tried to expand beyond its PDA business.

The retail locations that will be closing are located in California at Century City, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Los Angeles, and Santa Clara, as well as in New York’s Rockefeller Center and Washington DC’s Union Station.

Palm Airport Wireless locations are in airports in California, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington DC.
