Sony Announces New PSP Bundles Coming Soon
Sony today announced a couple of new PSP bundles that customers will see in the coming year as well as some new arrivals to the PSP.
Announced via the PlayStation Blog, Jeff Rubenstein, Social Media Manager, said fans can expect to see exclusive PSP editions of MotorStorm Arctic Edge (also coming to PS2), LittleBigPlanet, and the Petz series and told them to look out for The Warhawk Command Center, launching in PlayStation Home this week.
However what's getting the most attention is the new bundles announced at the company's annual retail and publisher conference, Destination PlayStation. Sony detailed an Assassin’s Creed bundle but didn’t specify a date other than “later in the year”. It will include the game itself, a “Piano Black” PSP and some other stuff yet to be announced.
Perhaps more interesting (read, annoying) is Sony’s attempt to nab itself some of the tween market (Nintendo’s DS has the likes of Catz and Dogz to attract younger females). The Hannah Montana bundle, complete with Lilac PSP, is expected in July (for $199) and comes with a Hannah Montana game (“an exclusive dancing and rhythm action game for gamers to design the show and go on tour as the teen icon”), episodes from the Hannah Montana TV series on UMD, a 2 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and Hannah Montana stickers.
While we’re not nuts about the idea of a Hannah Montana game for the PSP, we’re (okay, I’m) sort of bummed that they don’t offer Assassin's Creed with the lilac hardware (no word on whether it’s exclusive to this bundle or not). Though admittedly, we’re not sure it’d do much to attract the tweenie bopper market.
