Sony Reveals UK Pricing for PS Vita
Sony's Vita is set to launch in roughly four months' time, but how much will you have to pay for it here in Europe?
Sony's been talking about the PS Vita for what feels like an age. Though the company is more than willing to release new information about the device in dribs and drabs, it's been a while since we've heard anything solid from the company on pricing and release. Lucky for us, the company has finally detailed launch and pricing for the follow on to the successful PSP handheld. Here in the UK, we're getting the device at the same time as our cousins in the U.S., but how much will it cost?
"We are happy to share a piece of news that you have all been waiting for: PlayStation Vita will be available throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia from 22nd February, 2012," wrote Adam Grant, European Product Manager for PS Vita, adding that the WiFi version of the device will cost €249.99/£229.99 when it does launch at the beginning of next year. The 3G+WiFi model will debut at €299.99/£279.99.
Sony officially unveiled the PS Vita at the beginning of this year. The device boasts a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU; SGX543MP4+ graphics; a 5-inch touchscreen on the front and a unique rear touchpad on the back; two cameras, one in the front and one in the back, capable of 120fps@320x240(QVGA) and 60fps@640x480(VGA); a six-axis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer) and three-axis electronic compass; D-pad, A-pad, analogue sticks, shoulder buttons and start, select and volume; WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, a memory card slot, a PS Vita card slot, and a SIM slot.

Looks really god and the specification is pretty full ... however ...
The US prices of $249 and $299 do not convert to £229 and £279.
Last time I looked the exchange rate was about $1.60 = £1.00.
Typical :|
this is one of the things that annoys me , all electronics cost a lot more in Britain than america say
That's because all UK prices will include VAT.
US prices do not include any tax because sales tax differs widely across US states.

Even if US prices don't include VAT. $299 = £190 +20% VAT = £228.
We're still getting stuffed for £50 somewhere!
I also hate the fact that technology always costs more here than in the US >;(
Yes. Too expensive. Nintendo 3D fiasco written all over it. Pitty
Will be holding off on this one.
