Gaming Mouse Works on PC and Xbox 360

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

Built for FPS gamers, it's a good way to transition from PC to Xbox 360.

For gamers who like to switch between the Xbox 360 and PC, Bannco has a gadget for you that might make the transition between the two a little easier. Called xScorch, this laser mouse and "grip" combo works with both platforms via a wireless connection, and is supposedly lag-free.

The Grip actually is a little reminiscent of Nintendo's Wii nunchuck controller in shape, offering thumbstick support in addition to a directional pad and a few more buttons. For PC gamers, this serves as a full-featured WASD controller.

"Between the Mouse and Grip, xScorch contains all the normal xBox 360 controller buttons making it ideal for that first person PC shooter game style you’re used to," the company said.

The xScorch set seems geared for the FPS gamer: use the mouse "for targeting prey" while using the Grip to move in any direction. Apparently xScorch has upgradable firmware and programmable, digital sniper buttons for all your flesh-melon-popping needs.

For PlayStation 3 owners, Bannco also offers the FRAGnStein, a similar set save for the dark tan colors and 6-axis motion control.

Both sets cost $79.99 each.

So wait a minute, you could use a mouse on a 360?

That's awesome even if it does cost a helluva lot.

Lol. This is not even remotely close to an FPS gaming experience on a PC. This just tries to emulate a mouse by translating mouse movements to corresponding stick movements. The result is pathetic. Not to mention the lack of comparison between gfx between a modest PC and the current consoles.

Would using a mouse not give you one hell of an advantage over the majority of analog stick users in online game play?
Fish in a barrel?

wonspur :
This is a PC killer. Now that i have a mouse on console i can finally game without spending 1000 dollars just to run a game.

I could go on about how this misconception of having to spend a shed load of money to play PC games pisses me off. My PC cost less than my Xbox 360, and to top it off the games i play are cheaper on the PC. You can check my specs out on my profile probably.
But essentially i play Modern Warfare 2 on top specs, with no AA. At a good enough framerate for me to feel comfortable and kick ass.

However back to the product.
This means nothing to me, when im playing Xbox or PS3, i like to sit back in the sofa and enjoy the console game how its ment to be played, infront of a TV. Someone explain to me how i sit in my living room and use this mouse?
Or is this for the wannabe PC gamers who have their Xbox's hooked up to their PC monitors and play 6" away from their screen. Surely those people would be best off headed to Newegg or Ebuyer, and buying a PC if their so desperate to use a mouse on every game.

Well i doubt your computer cost less than your xbox and yes i looked at the specs i wont ask for a receipt though because it doesnt matter. The product is just another way to hook in PC users. Im pretty stubborn about playing an FPS on the console. maybe if this is good enough i will play more FPS games on a console in an effort to save some money, or maybe it will suck and ill just stay on the PC forever.

Standard Core 2 duo, second hand HP machine from ebay, £150. Uprated power supply, £50?, Nvidia 295 GPU (Actually purchased mine yesterday), £250.

= £450. Add on a bit more for CPU jumps. The next release of nVidia cards will bring a flood of gamers selling their high end gpu's so for the people with a bit of cash, they can upgrade to a VERY fast GPU.

As for the item above, I'd like to read a review first before even thInking of buying.

Maybe he was an early adopter of the 360.

Regardless, his PC will be easily faster than the 360; the 360's saving grace is that games are specifically programmed for the hardware in mind and not for an abstraction layer.

I fondly remember Quake III Arena on my Dreamcast... I had the keyboard and mouse for it. :)

PS3 has had support for a mouse and keyboard since the day it came out.

Interesting concept. I can't manage an fps on a console, just can't seem to turn and aim properly. Maybe if I practiced I could but I only play occasionally on xbox and get slaughtered.

What this might be useful for is more of a point and click type of game like an MMO. If the hardware works well I could see many MMO type games pouring onto the consoles. They could even bundle the controller with the game...

As long as it works well... And the games play like they should while we uses the new controls. It opens up the choice! and thats what matters... I dont like being forced into one or the other.

And owning a console will ALWAYS end up being cheaper to run in the long run, your P.c will get older and games will get newer and need more power. so you end up with a system that can play the game on meduim settings, and it will disapoint you ( then you start spending money again!!!)

A console just works and the game plays at setting it was designed to can played at. I have watched many mates shell out £800-£1000 each year or so, just to play the newest games! MADNESS!!!

PCs usually have superior graphics, certainly resolution was one of the main reasons, though that's less of a concern nowadays. There's no real need to be at the bleeding edge as most games will work with two year old hardware without any issues.

PC games are usually cheaper than their console equivalents, so if you're buying plenty of games, it may claw back some of the expense.

Most of my friends are on Consoles.. and i prefer the Mouse over the controller any day.. since i am a PC gamer as well. However, that's not to say that i can't play with the controller or anything.. it's just more accurate with the mouse.
