Call of Duty Black Ops Revealed Tonight

By - Source: Tom's Hardware UK

Activision briefly announced the next Call of Duty title.

Friday night SpikeTV is expected to reveal the next installment of the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops, through a world premier video airing at 12:40 am EST (which is technically Saturday morning). Produced by Activision Publishing's Treyarch studio, the game has a launch date of November 9th, 2010. Unfortunately, no other information was provided, nor was there any indication that this is the rumored title based in Vietnam.

"We can't wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops," said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. "We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts."

Based on the name alone, the new Call of Duty title will (probably) not be based in World War II, but rather will have a contemporary setting. The game is also a sign that Activision's battle with Infinity Ward isn't putting the franchise on hold. In fact, with Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games taking the helm, it's clear that the publisher intends to move forward.

With that said, Activision seems rather pumped about Black Ops. "Tomorrow you will see a teaser for this year’s Call of Duty game," said Thomas Tippl, chief operating officer of Activision Publishing, said on Thursday. "Treyarch is working on it and taking the Call of Duty franchise to the next level."

Tune in just after midnight for the big reveal on SpikeTV!

Oh joy, a treyarch based CoD. Because the previous two weren't utter crap now were they?

This will flop harder than an automatic flopping machine at a flopping contest.

World at War really wasn't bad, certainly not in comparison to MW2. I'm basing that sentence on personal opinion of gameplay, but World at War DID have dedicated servers and the Zombie Co-Op did make for a novel addition.
Either way, I can see this one being torrented, if at all, for most PC gamers, considering just how displeased, to say it politely, we have been at the latest of the Call of Duty series.
Heck, the first two were absolutely fantastic, thinking back, not to mention the single player seemed to go on for ages, with a followable storyline too...

At least Treyarch listen to consumer feedback, they actually fixed most of the errors in WaW, and I enjoy WaW as much as CoD4.

All COD games thus far (well most) have been great... COD4, COD5 and MW2... with exception to "dedicated servers", however, since i game on console (PS3), that doesn't concern me and so will eagerly await this game.

COD4 was a fantastic game. World at War was very poor and MW2 only had a couple of hours of gameplay in single player (I don't even need to mention multiplayer issues). I have now lost interest.

I think you've mistaken me for someone who values your opinion.
