Gaming With Three 43'' CRVD Displays is Awesome
I remember drooling over NEC's 43-inch curved monitor, the CRVD, last June. Now that display has an Ostendo label and it's just as breathtaking as ever.
Unfortunately, the stunning display from Ostendo comes with the same horrendous price tag as the NEC version. However, Engadget cites Ostendo as saying the displays are actually selling quite well. Most of the units sold so far have been for defense simulation and training but we like to think there's a die-hard gamer out there somewhere with the guts (wallet-shaped guts, of course) to purchase a few of these bad boys.
Why would you want more than one? Well, imagine a 2880 x 900 resolution, a .36mm pixel pitch, and a sub-.02ms response time. Got it? Right, now multiply it by three:
If you have a spare $20,000 hanging around, this dream could become a reality.

Hmmm what kind of aspect ratio is 2880 time 900. Now if you put another 3 on top it would be great!
Wow that game is jerky as hell! To bad he didn't spend some money or a new graphics card!!
Enjoy your impending blindness.

I'm not sure one card would be enough to run it smoothly, not if you want to keep the quality settings all the way up.
I'd imagine you would need something like a quad-fire or quad-sli to make it smooth.
Even then like the above post said 900 pixels in height, that's a little small considering the price tag and the width of the monitors. I would want double that.
I'm sure there is a better setup out there for 20k than this!

If he can afford that display, he can afford to crossfire two 5970s. And trust me, it'd run smooth on that setup.
Smooth? Not really, since Eyefinity doesn't work with crossfire.
That's not really new to gaming , but it's surely interesting and tempting. But even with two crossfires there is a load of set-up to be done in order to work seamlessly with other hardware.
How is that possible, its a a lcd. Ive never seen such a quick response time

Look again, there are plenty of sites listing 5970 crossfirex with eyefinity.
my 37" toshiba tv claims to have a 5ms response time but i measured it to be 40ms (in alot of scenes its not noticeable but i can stil see it) also i have another lcd which claims to be 8ms and it is actually 70ms. So manufacturers lie or choose some method to come up with a faster number.
I highly, highly doubt that these NEC screens have response times more than ONE HUNDRED TIMES that of the current best.
Even LCDs claiming 2ms response time show obvious motion blur, you have probably forgotten what CRT screens are like.
