Orange's San Francisco II Priced and Dated

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

Earlier this week, Orange accidentally let slip about the follow-on to its successful Orange San Francisco smartphone. Today, the company made the Orange San Francisco II official.

Orange has had several cheap and cheerful Android phones over the last couple of years, including the San Francisco, an own-brand phone manufactured by ZTE and selling for just £99. It's been over a year since the Eclair-powered San Francisco launched and based on its success, the network this past summer added the Orange Barcelona to its portfolio. On Monday, thanks to a little slip-up on Orange's part, we learned that the company is releasing an upgraded version of the San Francisco called the San Francisco II.

Orange today unveiled the San Francisco II, giving it a price and a vague release date. The phone is a rebranded ZTE Crescent, which boasts an 800MHz ARM11 CPU; support for up to 32GB of storage (the phone has just 512MB of internal memory but comes with a 2GB microSD in the box); a 3.5-inch 800x480 TFT WVGA display; a 5-megapixel camera in the back and a smaller camera up front for video calling; WiFi; Bluetooth; and USB support. Pricewise, you're looking at £99 on PAYG or free on a 24-month contract starting at £10.50 per month. You can check it out on Orange's website now, but it won't be available to purchase until the end of this month.

Neat, I've had my San Francisco (ZTE Blade) for just under a year it been a great phone - once I installed a decent rom, the orange branded android it came with was low-res pile of misery
