Ousted HP Chief Hurd Joins Oracle as Co-President

Mark Hurd, the former CEO of HP who recently resigned over sexual harassment allegations, has secured a job at software giant Oracle.

Throughout Labor Day weekend, there were rumors that Mark Hurd had been offered a job by Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle. Several sources spoke to the media about the discussions that were going on behind closed doors but none could elaborate on what kind of position Hurd would fill at the company.

Late last night Oracle revealed that Mark Hurd would join the company as co-president and report directly to Larry Ellison. He will also join Oracle's Board of Directors. Both Larry and co-president Safra Catz are pleased to have Mark on board, with the former describing Hurd's performance at HP as "brilliant."

"Mark did a brilliant job at HP and I expect he'll do even better at Oracle," said Larry Ellison. "There is no executive in the IT world with more relevant experience than Mark. Oracle's future is engineering complete and integrated hardware and software systems for the enterprise. Mark pioneered the integration of hardware with software when Teradata was a part of NCR."

Ellison made headlines last week when he called the HP situation 'the worst personnel decision since Apple fired Steve Jobs.' Hurd was supposedly ousted amid sexual harassment allegations and was later found to have altered expense reports to cover up a relationship he was having with a female client.
