Retailers Sell-out of LG Optimus 2X in 24 Hours
It might have just gotten its US release date but the LG Optimus 2X is already available in stores here in the UK and it looks as though things are going pretty well for LG.
LG’s Tegra 2 superphone, the Optimus 2X, launched just this week and everyone seems to be dying to get their hands on this device. LG has said that a number of retailers stocking the phone at launch have reported that they sold out of the device within 24 hours of launch. Of course, LG hasn't provided hard numbers yet, and we don't even know how many units each retailer was allotted for the launch, so we'll have to wait a little while before calling this a runaway success. Still, it's got to be a good sign.
Boasting Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chipset and announced at CES three months ago, the Optimus 2X is one of the first dual core ‘superphones.’ Aside from Tegra, it’s got a 4-inch WVGA screen, 8GB memory (up to 32GB via microSD), a 1500 mAh battery, an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front camera, HDMI mirroring and 1080p MPEG-4/H.264 playback and recording.
If you didn’t manage to get one, Carphone Warehouse is launching the device this week on a £30/month contract.
