Motorola Xoom Gets Overclocked to 1.5GHz
Xoom, Xoom, Xoom!
The just-launched Motorola Xoom is an impressive piece of kit. Boasting Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor, the device already packs a punch hefty enough to make an iPad blush. However, it seems that dual-core 1GHz CPU wasn’t enough for some people, as the Xoom has already been overclocked.
Coolbho3000 over on the xda-developers forums revealed the good news in a posting published last night:
"I have successfully brought the Tegra 2 in the Xoom to 1.5GHz," he told other members. "A few kernel modifications make the dual core chip in the Xoom even more powerful than the recently announced Tegra 2 3D! 1.5GHz through two Cortex A9 cores is truly a force to be reckoned with."
Benchmarking speeds for 1.5GHz are 47 MFLOPS in Linpack for Android (versus 35 MFLOPS stock) and 3105 in Quadrant at, compared to 2226 stock.
