Motorola's Motoluxe to Hit UK End of February

by - source: Crave

Another Android phone for the budget conscious.

Though it sometimes seems smartphone manufacturers are constantly trying to outdo each other when it comes to specs, there really is no shortage of budget or low-end smartphones that cater to those who really don't mind one way or the other if they have the latest technology in their pocket. Joining the crew is Motorola's Motoluxe, which has been unveiled ahead of this month's Mobile World Congress.

The Motoluxe is billed as a phone for fashionistas, packs a 4-inch touchscreen display and is powered by an 800MHz CPU with 512MB of RAM alongside. It's got dual-cameras, an 8-megapixel job in the back for photos and a smaller lens up front for video calling, up to 32GB of storage, and Motorola's MotoBlur UI on top of Android 2.3.

It's not the skinniest phone out there at 9.8mm (the company's own Droid RAZR is 7.1 mm at its thinnest point), but it's definitely not clunky and we imagine those looking for an entry-level smartphone don't care so much, as long as it isn't a brick. Pricing isn't set in stone yet, but Amazon is going to be selling it for £250 SIM-free if you can wait until 22 March. However, Crave writes that the phone will land on our shores later this month, so sit tight and we'll bring you news of an official release date and subsidised pricing.

800MHz?
Android 2.3?

Shouldn't they have launched this 12months ago?

Lately I've begun to wonder if these 'budget Android phones' are just old stuff they couldn't launch on time...
