A Phone fit for a building site.
Smartphones are a lot of things, but tough isn't one of them. If you're in any way clumsy or accident prone, your smartphone probably has a few battle scars to prove it. However, just because your fingers seem to be permanently covered in butter, that doesn't mean you can't have nice things.
Motorola today announced the Defy+ JCB, an extra rugged limited edition model of the Defy+. The Defy+ itself is a tougher, beefed up follow-on the 'life proof' Motorola Defy. Water resistant, scratch resistant and boasting a dust proof design (IP67), the Defy+ is already a pretty solid option for folks looking for a smartphone that will withstand the forces of nature. Still, no harm in having a version that's a little more life proof, is there?
Now claiming to be work proof as well as life proof, the Defy+ JCB comes pre-loaded with special JCB apps, including a spirit level, theodolite, decibel meter and recorder, torch, unit converter, calculator and DIY store locator, and features Push To Talk functionality, as well as a protective sleeve to keep your gadget safe from drops and tumbles, and a car charger for juicing up on the go. Specswise, it's the same as the regular Defy+, which means a 3.7-inch Corning Gorilla Glass display, a 1GHz CPU, a 5MP camera with auto focus, flash and digital zoom, 2GB of internal storage with an additional 2GB via microSD (expandable up to 32GB) and a 1700 mAH battery. The whole thing runs on Gingerbread (Android 2.3) with Motoblur on top.
The Motorola DEFY+ JCB Edition is available to purchase in retail stores across the UK from RRP £259.99.
