[CeBIT 2008] - Tablet PC for Outdoors
With its F5, Motion Computing is unveiling a Tablet PC in a slate design. Its magnesium case and prominent carrying handle underline the fact that it was designed with outside use in mind.
Its magnesium case protects the F5 against dust, water and shock. According to Motion Computing, the unit weighs 1.5 kilograms and basically only consists of the carrying handle and the 10.4" LC display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.
It is based on an Intel’s Centrino platform and uses a 945GM chipset with integrated graphics paired with a Core Solo processor running at 1.20 GHz. It offers a good range of wireless options, including WiFi (802.11a/b/g), Bluetooth and UMTS/HSDPA. For storage, buyers can choose between a 1.8" hard disk or an SSD.
The F5 also features a 2 megapixel webcam and an RFID reader, with a barcode scanner available as an option. Windows is the operating system of choice, either as an PX Tablet PC Edition or Vista Business Edition. Depending on the features set, the Motion F5 costs between €1800 and €2700.
Motion Computing have set up their CeBIT presence in Hall7 at stand C02 (Cosys Ident).
