Milton Keynes Has Slowest 3G Broadband Speeds
You might want to wait until you can get on WiFi to download that app...
With the advent of smartphones, mobile phone signal (and who’s getting the most) has become even more of an issue. Whereas before you might not have noticed that the bathroom seemed to be a black hole that ate tasty, tasty GSM waves for breakfast, you’re now all too aware of the fact that you cannot surf the net on the bog.
Have you ever wondered which town in the UK has the fastest 3G speeds? Well, it’s not Milton Keynes, in case you were considering a move. According to new research from top10.com, Milton Keynes actually came in dead last in a study of mobile broadband speeds in UK towns.
The study was carried out with the help of thousands of iPhone users running the Streetstats 3G app.
With average mobile broadband speeds of 1.73Mbps, Milton doesn’t even come close to the towns with fastest mobile broadband. The crowning achievement of ‘fastest mobile broadband’ has been awarded to Peterborough, where the average user gets 3.6Mbps. Carlisle (3.5Mbps), Eastbourne (3.47Mbps) and Stoke (3.35Mbps) follow, while York, Dundee, Brighton, Derby and Reading also made the top ten, offering speeds over 3Mbps.

Why didn't they use SpeedTest.net like the rest of us? Surely there's an app for that (there is for Android). Perhaps they just wanted one platform to make the test more realistic.
I live in Milton Keynes and to be honest I don't give a crap about 3g mobile broadband. I have Bonded ADSL2+ lines from Be* Unlimited running 34mb/s down 3.6mb/s up, and am on the FTTP trial, so have an unlimited 100mbit fiber line.
rofl carlisle 2nd 3G fastest. You can hardly get any 3G at all 12 miles down the road! and anyways that means 3G in carlisle is faster than the average broadband speed in carlisle
Well MK is pretty rubbish. most places only off actual internet speeds on only 2-3mbps
Milton Keynes should be named and shamed!
