The war against mice and other little critters continues and in a concentration camp-like effort to beat the vermin, scientists have come up with a way to gas the offending vermin.
The tunnel shaped trap is one and a half inches in diametre and is placed near a wall. The mice enter the tunnel expecting to consume some sort of cheesey treat, when alas ! the door closes behind them and CO2 is pumped into the chamber. The mouse is knocked out within the first 20 seconds and somewhere in the next 45 seconds you will receive a text message announcing the untimely demise of the mouse. The company also receive a message regarding the casualty and will then reset the trap.
Rentokil, who launched the device on Monday, describe the 10” long trap as a James bond like invention and claim they have used the same strategies used on intruders in buildings.
The company says that unlike any kind of poisonous traps available the Radar is completely factory and home safe and presents no risk to people or workers in the surrounding area.
With each trap costing £10 it’s 100 times more expensive than the traditional 10p trap available in the hardware shop but Rentokil feel that the Radar is taking significant steps towards a humane way of reducing the problem of mice infestation in the UK which are rising by an average of 12.5% in the UK with the highest percentage increase being in the south-east of England at 29%.
Rentokil discarded the idea of injecting the vermin with an air bubble thus causing an embolism.
