Is This MSFT's Version of Apple's Magic Mouse?
Apple's recently launched Magic Mouse marries the track pad with a more traditional input device to bring us a mouse with multitouch capabilities. However, it seems Microsoft has been planning it's own multitouch mouse for a while.
istartedsomething points to growing evidence that suggests Microsoft could take on Apple's Magic Mouse with a touch sensitive version of its stylish Arc mouse. The site reports that several European etailers boast listings for a product called the "Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse," with a $70 price tag that's in line with what the Magic Mouse costs.
Also lending weight to the theory of a multitouch Arc is the domain arctouchmouse.com, which Microsoft registered in late March.
In 2009, Microsoft Research published a paper presenting the possibilities of "novel input devices that combine the standard capabilities of a computer mouse with multi-touch sensing." Of the five devices detailed in the paper, the one that looks most like Microsoft's Arc mouse is the FTIR mouse (pictured above), which involves IR lights and an IR camera.

No, I actually think that they're just making a mouse and this has absolutely NOTHING to do with Apple at all. Then again, if you put APPLE in the title of every single post you'll get more hits from everyone screaming at each other.
Title choice, now and the future
MS having a shot at the Touch mouse
MS prototype Mouse design
MS designs a mouse before Apple but Apple still gets a mention (Even if they did or not)
MS Prototype that no-one will use as they'd rather use a two button damn mouse
MS does something not even slightly Apple related
MS releases something first but it's like something Apple released later.
Apple, apple apple apple, apple apple. Apple apple, something completely unrelated to, Apple. Apple apple. Steve Jobs, new messiah.
It seems so much more interesting and exciting when you put the word 'Apple' in everything a few dozen times.
But why stop here, lets start comparing everything to Apple products.
this is ugly,me thinks.
Maybe the writers are getting paid per comment like those at neowin.net.
Funny how neowin manage to remain balanced though...maybe toms writers a little bit greedier.
This mouse is a prototype. The current prototype version is called "Microsoft Arc Mouse".
So true guys...
Enough with apple news... they are not even news...
and yes - comparing this to apple? Why? It's a product that evolved from the ideas Microsoft was wokring on for a while as you've mentioned in the article... Why mention apple to it? They haven't even invtented touch technology, nor the mouse, just because they have mouse in their offerings (obviously well overpriced and probably uncomfortable to use) doesn't mean you have to compare EVERY mouse to it...
if one would use THG's search results for market comparison and put words: "Microsoft" and then in another search - "Apple" (I bet someone will come up with this comparison in a few months... ) they would come up with an idea... that apple shares 50% of the market... or to put into more appropriate perspective... that half of THG's readers own an apple product... therefore could we kindly ask you THG - to perform a ballot and ASK US WHAT DO WE WANT TO READ ABOUT!?
It looks vaguely Magic Mouse related, and that's a bad thing. MS has produced excellent mice for every budget for years. These were conservative design wise, but of excellent quality. The guys over at Cupertino seem to have special hands, as nobody with normal hands likes their mice...
Stick to your own ideas, don't go looking at the inferior competitor at Cupertino.
replica watches @@@@ buying has become very popular nowadays. One of the main reasons is that
replica watches are surprisingly less expensive than the authentic ones while their quality is comparable to the authentic ones. However, there are a few things need to pay attention to in a satisfying replica watches buying.
