OKI announces three breakthrough technologies for mobile devices
OKI, Japan’s first telecommunications manufacturer, today announced that it will showcase three breakthrough technologies for mobile devices at the Mobile World Congress 2008 (MWC2008) in two weeks time.
MWC2008 will see OKI intorduce FSE (Face Sensing Engine) facial image processing middleware ; mobile iris recognition middleware and high-quality VoIP software library, eSound.
FSE is a software library that provides various facial image processing functions including face detection, tracking, feature point extraction, and personal identification from images or videos.
Mobile oriented iris recognition middleware is a software library that enables iris recognition, the highly-accurate biometrics recognition, through mobile devices.
The middleware includes all necessary functions in a single package and is optimized for mobile devices, providing for accurate user authentication on mobile devices.
As mobile devices become more sophisticated, demand for security management is increasing and OKI hopes that this middleware will demonstrate mobile device security.
eSound is a voice signal processing software library enabling high-quality voice communication superior to conventional phones. eSound is based on OKI’s VoIP technology that solves many of the common problems people encounter with communication over IP networks such as packet loss, delay and jitter, and enables echo-canceling.
All three technologies are well suited for embedding into mobile devices.
MWC2008 will take place in Barcelona, Spain from the 11th to the 14th of February.
