UK Retailer Points to January 6 Release for Lumia 710
Is Nokia looking to light up our new year?
While our cousins across the pond are still waiting on the Nokia Lumia 800 to land, we've already had one dose of Finnish Windows Phone and are eagerly looking for to the next. Announced at the same time as the Lumia 800, the Lumia 710 is definitely the less talked about of the two devices. However, that's not to say it isn't a pretty nifty little phone in terms of specs. Boasting a Qualcomm MSM8255 1.4 GHz Snapdragon CPU, 8GB of storage, 512 of RAM, 512 of ROM, a 3.7-inch 480x800 multitouch display, and a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, the Lumia 710 is nothing to turn your nose up at.
Billed as the cheaper of Nokia's Windows Phone 7 offerings, it makes sense that Nokia would want to ship its more expensive option first. However, now that the 800 is available in shops, we still haven't heard much about a launch for the 710. Until now, that is as it looks like one online retailer has accidentally outed the Lumia 710's release date. Unwired Review points to Digital-phone.co.uk, which currently highlights a January 6 launch for the phone. Of course, this date has not been confirmed by Nokia, so it could turn out to be a false alarm. Still, it's nice to think that as the decorations are coming down, there'll be some new gadgets making their way to shops.
We'll keep you posted on this one and update you if we learn anything more.
[Update] Nokia has confirmed that the Lumia 710 is shipping, so it should arrive in shops soon. Still no word on a release date, though.
