LoveFilm has been extremely active as of late. It has been signing deals with media companies left, right and centre, and as soon as Netflix arrived, the Amazon-owned streaming company adjusted its pricing to better compete with the new arrival. Clearly, the company is aiming to dominate the market, and in another step towards that goal, LoveFilm today announced it will soon be available to LG TV owners direct from their tellies.
The new deal will see LoveFilm Instant arrive on LG's Smart TV platform and offer users access to hundreds of TV and episodes from the streaming service. Users will also have the ability to manage their movie rental list, rate movies, read reviews and search for movies by cast and crew. While the arrival of the LoveFilm app is obviously a nice addition for LG, the company's Smart TV platform now has over 250 apps, so this news is probably a more significant step for LoveFilm.
"With this latest platform launch we are strengthening our penetration into the living rooms of UK consumers, bringing instant entertainment to more homes than ever before," said Simon Calver, CEO of Amazon's LoveFilm. "With every new platform launch we take another step towards our goal of being available to as many people, in as many ways as possible."
The app is already available on selected LG Smart TVs in the UK.
