UK to Get ZTE's £235 Light Tab 2 Next Month
Cheap and cheerful.
Not content to rest on its laurels after the recent launch of own-brand Windows smartphone, the Tania, ZTE is apparently preparing to launch another self-branded product. This time, the company is taking aim at the tablet market with an Android device called the ZTE V9A Light Tab 2. First announced in autumn 2011, the Light Tab 2 is a 7-inch device running on a 1.4GHz processor, 4GB of memory, WiFi, 3G, a 3.2-megapixel camera on the back and and 0.3-megpixel camera up front, a 3400mAh battery and Android 2.3.
Clove this week reports that the device will go on sale at the end of February for a reasonable £235 (inc. VAT). Not too shabby for a 7-inch tablet. The fact that it's not running Ice Cream Sandwich is a bit of a bummer, but then again, many of today's tablets are launching without ICS with an update to follow at a later stage. It's not clear if the Light Tab 2 will get the ICS-treatment post-launch, but we'll keep you posted on that one. For now, Gingerbread will have to do.
