Leopard outruns Tiger
Cupertino (CA) – Apple today said that the latest version of its Mac OS X 10.5 operating system exceeded the launch sales of its predecessor “Tiger”. More than two million copies were delivered to customers over the weekend.
According to the company, “Leopard” has become the most successful OS release in the firm’s history, reaching customers through retail stores, authorized resellers, the company’s online store as well as maintenance agreements. Not surprisingly, CEO Steve Jobs touts the success in a press release issued today.
“Early indications are that Leopard will be a huge hit with customers,” Jobs was quoted. "Leopard’s innovative features are getting great reviews and making more people than ever think about switching to the Mac." According to the manufacturer, the operating system introduces more than 300 new features, including a new backup engine, a redesigned Finder, a file preview tool, as well as a couple new ways to access and manage files and applications.
Leopard sells for $129 with a single-user license and for $199 with a five-user license.
