At 1800 BST today, Apple will launch the much anticipated Mac OS X Leopard.
Leopard, to Apple fans dismay, was pushed back from a June release date and rescheduled for October so that developers at Apple could focus on the iPhone.
This last quarter has seen a significant increase in Apple computers with the company selling 2.2 million computers, 400,000 more than last year. Apple hope that the Tiger update will help it build on its already strong sales.
Leopard boasts 300 new features although most of these are just minor improvements or tweaked tools from the old operating system. The Time Machine tool, a revolutionary back-up system, and Spaces, which allows you to have multiple desktops open at a time are just two of the Leopard only features. All reviews for Leopard look positive and there are very few who have a bad word to say about the new Mac update, although some fans are saying they’d rather wait a while to see if it’s all its promising before rushing out to buy it.
With rumours flying around that this is to be Apple’s strongest OS to date it’s no wonder the company hope that Leopard will be a sort of Vista-pounder. Not that Vista needs to be pounded. . .
