X Factor sees last weeks legal music downloads break record
X Factor winner Leona Lewis managed to push music downloads to the highest ever last week.
Last weeks 1.7 million downloads, which beat the previous record of 1.5 million, was thanks in large part to Lewis’ latest track that went straight into the charts at number one on Sunday.
The track was downloaded 106,000 times last week and CD sales of the single hit over 110,000 copies sold.
The original record was recorded the week the Sugababes released its single "About You Now" although Leona’s hit has managed to outsell the rest of the top five put together including the girlbands’ single which is in at number four.
The song is from Leona’s debut album, Spirit, which is set to for release on the 12th of this month.
