NEC's LaVie Z Ultrabook Set for Japanese Launch this Summer

By - Source: NEC | B 0 comment

NEC provides a smidgen more information on its Lavie Z ultrabook.

At CES we saw ultrabooks galore and we expected the same from Computex. While CES acted as something of an ultrabook debut for some companies, Computex in Taiwan represents an opportunity for manufacturers to show off their Windows 8 offers and give press some hands-on time with products announced in the last couple of months. Among those on the show floor is NEC, which had its LaVie Z on show in Taipei.

Originally unveiled in early May, the LaVie Z has been something of a mystery since we first caught sight of it. Though NEC was happy to let us know about the laptop's magnesium alloy casing, the company wasn't exactly forthcoming on the finer details, like what was going on under the hood. It's a different story this week, though, as NEC has revealed the LaVie Z will pack either a 1.7GHz Core i5-3317U or a 1.9GHz Core i7-3517U processor with Intel's Turbo Boost 2.0 technology, a 13.3-inch 1600 x 900 resolution display, and a weight of 999g.

NEC didn't reveal much else, and the company is remaining quiet on pricing as well as details for a release outside of Japan. However, if you are a resident of Japan, you'll be able to snag one this summer.
