Yesterday we got word from Clove that it had heard the LG Optimus 3D Max would not be getting a UK release. The retailer said that while conversations with LG at Mobile World Congress had yielded a release time frame for the Optimus 4X HD (it's now available to pre-order priced at £456 including VAT and will arrive in June), the company also informed them that the Optimus 3D Max would not be getting a UK release.
However, it seems this may not be the case. Despite Clove's claims that it heard this news straight from the horse's mouth, Pocket-Lint's own sources at LG say that a decision on the Optimus 3D Max for the UK has not yet been reached. This source says "it's still in discussion," and that there has been "no decision on specific countries" as of yet.
In case you missed it, the Optimus 3D Max boasts a 1.2GHz dual-core OMAP4 processor, dual 5MP rear cameras to take care of the 3D side of things, 8GB of internal storage, and NFC for all your mobile payments needs. The Optimus 4X HD, which is already available for pre-order in the UK, packs a 4.7-inch 1280x720 True HD IPS display, a 1.5GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, an 8MP camera, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and 16GB of internal storage. It will run Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, when it ships in June.
We'll keep you posted on the status of the Optimus 3D Max.
