IFA 2007: LG Electronics R500 - A Speedy Notebook
Refined, suitable for fast games and affordable – this seems to be the motto for LG’s new notebooks with the slightly cumbersome product name R500 PRO-UPRAG.
The R500 PRO-UPRAG was already announced back in May, but LG’s new flagship notebook will now finally be appearing in stores towards the middle of September.
The R500 is powered by Intel’s Core 2 Duo T7300 CPU (2.0 GHz, 4 MB of L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB). Paired with Nvidia’s Geforce 8600M, the LG should be equipped to handle even current games.
A wireless network adapter of the new draft-n specification provides a fast wireless connection, while Intel’s Turbo Memory technology is implemented to reduce boot-up times. According to Intel, Windows Vista boots a full 20% faster with this technology.
The 15.4” display has a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels. An integrated web cam for Skype video conferencing and a fingerprint sensor round off the list of feature.
Considering the generous feature set, the price of £999 / €1,499 can’t be called anything but very affordable.
LG Electronics is a Korean company with its HQ in Seoul. It produces a wide variety of electronic devices ranging from refrigerators, air-conditioning units and plasma TVs to mobile phones and notebooks and employs nearly 83,000 people.
