GlobalFoundries VP Quits, Joins Intel In Battle Against ARM

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

Jon Carvill, former vice president of communications at GlobalFoundries, has just joined Intel in a media relations capacity with a title that is not public yet.

Carvill came originally from ATI's public relations team, joined AMD in 2006 as part of the ATI acquisition and jumped on the opportunity to lead the communications team of AMD's manufacturing unit when it was spun off in 2008. Carvill said that Global Foundries always treated him well and he left because of personal reasons.

At Intel, Carvill said he will be working in media relations focused on Intel's products for the smartphone and tablet market, which we assume will involve Intel's rivalry with ARM. Intel has quite a bit of work to do to bring compelling tablet/smartphone products to market and show that it can compete with ARM. Intel's reputation has taken some hits with rather blurry predictions how many tablets with Intel processors will be arriving this year - and Oak Trail is certainly not the savior Intel was hoping for.

There is no doubt that Carvill and the Intel PR team at Intel has a big challenge ahead. GlobalFoundries has not yet announced a replacement for Carvill.

Hahaha... that's funny... Neither ATI nor AMD had better face for the public than their competition.
