Poor old Newsnight presenter, Jeremy Paxman, isn’t getting the support he needs, in more ways the one.

This Morning hosts, Fern and Phillip are doing nothing to ease Paxman’s pants pains. The two presenters dissolved into six minutes of giggles during a bit of banter about Paxman’s pants.

The discussion included comments from the two regarding his "pant rant" and involved some rather aerobic lunges from Phillip to demonstrate the support of his pants.

Fern also stated that good pants firmly support the undercarriage, to which Phillip responded "Yes, yes, undercarriage stowed." Fen then replied "Flaps up !" before the two collapsed into more fits of giggles.

They then discussed the unpleasant idea of your undercarriage being ripped off. At speed.

Yesterday saw a private email from Jeremy Paxman to the CEO of Marks and Sparks leak onto the net.

The nature of this email was amusing to say the least. In sending the mail, Mr Paxman wished to draw to the attention of Sir Stuart Rose, the quality of Marks and Spencers socks and more importantly, underwear.

In his email to Sir Stuart Jeremy wrote that he, like many men in the UK, bought his pants and socks in M&S. He went on to express his deep concerns over the support in Marks and Sparks underwear.

“I’ve noticed that something very troubling has happened. There’s no other way to put this. Their pants no longer provide adequate support.”

Not to be singled out, Paxman assured Sir Stuart that he was not alone.

"When I’ve discussed this with friends and acquaintances, it has revealed widespread gusset anxiety.

It takes a very secure man to ask an acquaintance if his undies are giving his junk enough support...

Mr Paxman then went on to discuss the important matter of socks.

"The other thing is socks. Even among those of us who clip our toenails very rigorously, they appear to be wearing out much more quickly on the big toe.

"Also, they are no longer ribbed around the top, which means they do not stay up in the way they used to. These are matters of great concern to the men in Britain.”
