Jeremy Clarkson prints bank details in paper, gets scammed
Even if you’re Jeremy Clarkson you’re not safe from banking scams. Although he did ask for it by printing his bank details in the newspaper. . . Silly sausage.
Back in November, Clarkson described The Great Data Loss of 2007 as “a storm in a tea cup”. To prove his point, he printed all of his bank details in the newspaper. He also included details on how to find out his home address and what kind of car he drives. He claimed that most of the details could be found on cheques that we pass around every other day.
Mr Clarkson since opened his bank statement to learn that one reader had set up a direct debit of £500 payable to the British Diabetes Association. Oh dear.
The most important thing is that Jeremy Clarkson has learned his lesson and isn’t afraid to admit that he was wrong.
"I was wrong and I have been punished for my mistake.”
He also retracted his further statement and showed great imagination with regard to how the people who lost the discs should be punished.
Also, it could have been worse. The direct debit was set up to give money to charity. Some well meaning reader managed to teach Jeremy Clarkson a lesson and give to sick people at the same time. Bravo !
