Scotland to be Next Big Thing in IT, says Evangelist
John Giannandrea former chief technologist at Netscape returned from the U.S to speak at the ScotlandIS global technology forum. He believes that Scotland could be the next big thing for the internet.
Netscape, one of the first web browsers, kicked off the boom in online companies but was eventually out-flanked by Internet Explorer and Firefox. Giannandrea claims that over the last five years he has been in contact with more and more people in Scotland who are working on “similar ideas”.
He also said that there is “no structural reason” why the next big thing can’t come from Europe.
John Giannandrea left Scotland almost ten years ago for a career in America. He now works for Metaweb Technologies in San Francisco.
