Fraunhofer Institute to present Watermarking for Mobile Television
As the use of mobile phones for multimedia continues to increase, television viewing on mobile devices is becoming more and more significant. Traditional TV shows are being reformatted and tagged with additional information for mobile viewing.
Protection is necessary to ensure that these shows are not released online before their first broadcast. As part of the Portivity project, the Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology has developed a video watermark that allows permanent watermarking of TV material without inhibiting further editing.
Initial results of this project, which has been ongoing since 2005, are to be presented in the Science and Technology Forum at the WiMAC & Portivity group stand (Hall 5.3/4).
The project also promises to include interactive functions; during a soccer transmission, for example, a click would call up the “shots on goal” statistics. Lotteries and the like are also possible with this function.
It’s also possible to track moving objects. The viewer can display additional information about an object by clicking on it.

Creative Labs to present ZEN Stone Plus
Creative Labs will be presenting its ZEN Stone Plus at the IFA. The Flash player with 2 GB of memory has a special, extravagant design that isn’t expected to suit everyone’s taste.
In addition to playing MP3 files, the player comes with an FM radio, a dictaphone and a stop watch. It weighs just 21 grams (as does the human soul, we’re told) and measures 56 mm x 35 mm.
The MP3 player aims to be as individual as its users, it’s available in black, white, pink, lime, blue and red. A returning feature we’ve long missed from big-name flash-based MP3 players is that songs can easily be transferred to the player via drag & drop – no additional software installation is required.
Optional accessories include a wristband that allows easy use of the player during sports activities.The player is available in shops for 69 euro.
