Transcend TS840: Mini Multimedia Player

Transcend will be presenting a new pocket-sized mini multimedia player, the little TS840 measures just 82 mm x 40.5 mm x 12.5 mm. The player has a 1.8 inch display with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels for video playback and control functions. This corresponds to half the standard PAL resolution.

The player is equipped with a Li-ion battery, providing up to 30 hours of music playback and the TS840 weighs just 80 grams.

The player supports MP3, WMA, WMA-DRM10 and WAV formats. All video formats can be converted for TS840 playback using the supplied software.

Data transfer to the player is carried out via the USB 2.0 interface. It even has an FM radio with a recording function. With its built-in microphone, the TS840 can also be used as a voice recorder.

The 2 GB model costs 93 euros, and the 4 GB model 123 euro.

Aiptek AHD 200: The World’s most affordable HDV Camera

Aiptek’s AHD 200 camera provides HD recording for just 199 euro.

HD recordings have a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, this corresponds to 720p HD format, but not Full HD (that’d be 1080p). Recordings are taken at 30 frames per second in 16:9 format. The lens has a 4x optical zoom and videos can be stored on SD memory card (up to 32 GB).

The AHD 200 has a 2.4 inch display. It’s Night Mode means that recording is also possible in low light conditions. The required power is provided by a 1000 mAh Li-ion battery. The battery can be charged by means of the supplied power adapter or via the USB cable.

The camera is supplied with a pouch and with a remote control for self-portrait recordings Without a memory card – which you’ll need to pick up separately – almost nothing is possible with this camera, as it only has a scant 6 MB internal memory. Thus, an additional investment in SD memory is a definite necessity.
