Soap sets won't look the part in HD

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

There have been many an argument for the positives and negatives of high definition television but one of the main ones has been from newsreaders and actors. Every blemish, every imperfection on show for the world to see ! Heavens to Besty, viewers might actually realise that TV personalities are human !

So we’ve known all about the blemish blunders you’re bound to get with HD but no one really thought of the sets.

Word on the street is sets from soaps like Casualty, Eastenders and Holby City aren’t exactly HD telly friendly themselves.

The set for EastEnders, which was apparently only ever temporary (1985 to 2008 but who are we to judge. . .) won’t look the part on HD because of the amount of sticky tape and blu-tack fixes they’ve done over the years and so, they’ve decided to move it.

Plans to move to another location would work out cheaper than rebuilding so they’ve decided to shift Albert Square and the Queen Vic and set up camp 30 miles down the road.

The original set was situated in Elstree studios in Borehamwood, Hertford-shire and have been there since 1985. EastEnders is expected to move (upon recommendation from Beeb bosses) to Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

Looks like in all the worrying they do about their sets not looking real they haven’t spared a thought for the plotlines. Oh well. Maybe next year.
