HD Doesn't necessarily mean quality...

by
HD doesn’t essentially mean quality... As you may have understood, the name HD camcorder is not always synonym for high quality. These four models deliver an image of 1920x1980 pixels resolution, a size perfectly adapted to a full HD screen. However there are miles and miles between the Canon and the Hitachi. In the end, like for a traditional camcorder, the sensor and the optics of a HD camcorder are paramount. Also, the AVCHD, becoming the standard of compression for HD images is still quite hard to come to terms with. Across this test, the Canon established itself in the level of its image quality and its numerous features. We only regret the choice of Mini-DVD support which is not very practical and costly in the long run. The Sony and Panasonic both have strong points in their favour. Specifically their practical aspects as well as the image quality even if their overall level is less uniform than the Canon. The only failure outright is the Hitachi. This attempt at a Blu-ray camcorder was a complete flop. Let’s hope that the Japanese manufacturer will fix it in their next model.

I'm surprised that this review doesn't look at any mini-DV (HDV) camcorders, especially the Canon HV20. Another inadequate THG review...

Does the reviewer have something against paragraphs, headings and basic page layout? It's virtually impossible to see the scores or read through the infinitely long paragraphs. Definitely 'Web 0.5'

MrRimmer is Absolutely Correct, in that camera (HV20) has had the best reviews across the planet. I ended up with the smaller brother of it the HV10, super compact, it does a great job both photo and video mini DV.
The review here short sighted the true options. Even though the intent was the latest gear I suspect.
