As part of Greenpeace’s campaign to make tech products that little bit nicer on the environment, the group has asked gamers to encourage console manufacturers to produce greener consoles.

Greenpeace conducted a survey through online social networking site, Habbo, which found that out of 50,00 young people, 74 percent placed concern over global warming above that of violence or drugs.

Basically, Greenpeace is working its way down the list of electronics and one by one, is trying to convince them to be more environmentally friendly. PC manufacturers are already producing a greener range of equipment along with mobile phone firms and MP3 players. No one could forget the chunk the environmental group took out of Apple for the iPhone recently.

Greenpeace reps have said that seeing as how consoles contain a lot of the same parts as PCs, their lack of support for the greener electronics campaign isn’t really excusable.

Console manufacturer Nintendo has said that they already comply with European standards and have signed up for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE, Wii ? Geddit ?) Directive, which places manufacturers in charge of disposing of their own products.
