Google releases updated Android SDK
Mountain View (CA) - A new software development kit is available for developers to work on Google’s mobile "Android" platform.
The new SDK provides "updates to the Android APIs and the developer tools based, in part, on the great feedback and suggestions developers have been giving us," according to Google’s Jason Chen.
As part of the updated kit, Google has upgraded the user interface, layout animations, geo-coding, and added new media codecs. Android now also supports OGG Vorbi, MIDI, XMF, iMelody, RTTL/RTX, and OTA.
Google launched its first Android SDK and unveiled the first prototypes at this month’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It is for the most part on schedule, and finalized products running Android are expected to be out later this year.
