Thanks to the fact that it’s not very demanding on memory, Age of Empires III offers more stability to the 8800 GT 256 MB, which is only between 8 to 12% less efficient than the 8800 GT even in 1920*1440. In this case, the Radeon HD 3870 (as well as the HD 2900 XT) is once again outperformed and the 8800 GT 256 is at its best.
