Power Consumption
Here’s the power supply’s total consumption. This sums up the consumption of the configuration as a whole, including the Tagan U15 530 W power supply losses, which are 20% on the range of power considered here.

Curiously, when idle, the GeForce 8800 GT 256 MB displays power consumption greater than that of the 8800 GT classic (512 MB). This specifically seems to come from the Gigabyte model, as the clocks are awkwardly invariable and don’t lower in idle, thus the increase in power consumption despite a decrease in frequency and quantity of memory.
However, in 3D things go back to normal, with a reduced power consumption of approximately 10 W compared to the 8800 GT. It stays 15 W below the 3850. The comparison with the latter in idle mode is, however, quite enormous (and more significant) with 24 W wasted!
