Games for Windows Live 3.0 Released
Microsoft has released a new stand-alone client for Games for Windows - Live, and is available for downloading here. Version 3.0 now provides custom in-game storefronts (think Rock Band), zero-day piracy protection for developers, and server side authentication, enabling gamers access to their games no matter what machine they use. The new client also provides "roaming saved games and settings."
"We will store your saved games and settings in the cloud so that, combined with the server-side authentication, means not only can you install and play anywhere, you can start a game at work and continue your saved game at home without having to worry about moving that saved game around," said Drew Johnson in this Q&A, the general product manager for the Live Engagement Team on Windows.
Currently Games for Windows - Live supports many PC titles including Street Fighter IV, Fallout 3, Fuel, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, and more.

Interesting. Hmm. Start your game at work.
I want to have the kind of employer that will let me play Daw Of War 2 when I should be getting on with resolving customer issues.
Confused, does this replace or upgrade the live client used in GTA4 and battlestations?
"saved games and settings in the cloud" We really need this feature in existing live client.
Dont we have steam for that ?
Of course we have Steam for that, but that doesn't mean it's not a good idea.
OK, who's the gonna be the first Anti-MS person to say they are stealing Steam's idea. I would say Apple would steal it but they don't really do game, do they? ;-p
Good idea. I just hope it has a half decent interface. My biggest issue with all recent MS products has been the interface. Well, except Windows 7, where they seem to have cracked it.
Though, I'll likely stick with Steam for now, I'll check this out if it has anything I particularly want.
