Game Strikes Digitial Distribution Deal with Sony
Game and Sony are teaming up to distribute digital PlayStation content.
High-street retailer Game has announced that it is making a move toward digital distribution as part of a new partnership with Sony. Eurogamer reports that the retailer's deal with Sony Europe is an exclusive one and will see Game sell downloadable games, add-ons and PlayStation Plus subscriptions at all 620 of its UK stores. Game will begin selling the digital content in 40 stores immediately, with the rest of the stores being added in the middle of next month. From launch, the service will mostly involve first party Sony titles. Third-party titles may be added at some point in the future.
As far as pricing is concerned, Sony says it will depend entirely on the games, which right now include MAG, God of War Collection and WipEout Fury. Eurogamer reports that the God of War Collection will cost £24.99, whereas the Killzone 3 Steel Rain Map pack will cost £3.99. Customers will be able to download purchased games using a 12-digit code sent by email, SMS or printed on a receipt.
The news comes hot on the heels of a similar announcement from U.S. video game retailer GameStop. Two weeks ago the company announced plans to sell digital PC games in stores. The new service will allow customers to purchase games in their local store (using any accepted form of payment, including trade credit and GameStop gift cards) and access the titles immediately at launch.

Nice idea actually, I know some people don't like paying in blocks of £5 when buying content that costs less than that.
