Asda Offering Galaxy Tab for £299

by - source: The Reg

Asda is selling Samsung’s Galaxy Tab for £299.

Earlier this week, Samsung made headlines when it announced two new additions to its Galaxy Tab line, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 8.9. Both measuring in just a hair thinner than Apple’s iPad 2 and boasting dual-core 1GHz processors and Google’s Honeycomb OS, they’re impressive little devices that out-do their older brother by a long shot.

Though the new Galaxy Tabs won't arrive until June, it seems Asda has already dropped the pricing on the older model. Costing £500 at launch, the 7-inch Google Froyo tablet now costs just £299 for Asda Direct customers.

"Asda Direct is helping customers to get onto the smartpad market, offering the Samsung Galaxy Tablet at only £299," the store said.

Though Asda could be trying to sell off remaining stock (the superstore does say that stock is limited) ahead of the arrival of the new Galaxy Tabs, it's also possible that it's trying to shift as many as possible ahead of tomorrow's iPad 2 launch. When shops start flogging the iPad tomorrow afternoon, they'll be asking £399 for the cheapest model (that's a 16GB WiFi-only version).

Hit up Asda Direct for the details.
