Samsung's Galaxy Note Priced, Coming November 1
Samsung's 5-inch phone/tablet mash-up gets priced and a release date.
September was a big month for Samsung, with the unveiling of a brand new Galaxy Tab 7 as well as the new Galaxy Note smartphone. The first phone to ever go above five inches in screen size, the Galaxy Note boasts a 1.4Ghz dual-core CPU, a massive 5.3-inch Super AMOLED WXGA (1280 x 800, 285 PPI) display (with stylus), 16GB of internal storage (plus up to 32GB via microSD), an 8-megapixel camera in the back, a 2-megapixel job up front, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, full 1080p HD video recording and playback, USB 2.0, HSPA+/4G LTE support, and Android 2.3.
Though we heard soon after the Note was announced that some retailers were taking preorders for the device, estimating the price to be around £600, Samsung had yet to release an official price and release date for the Galaxy Note. However, with November (and the Christmas shopping season) looming, it looks like we might soon see the Galaxy Note on shelves.
Clove, the same retailer that was happily taking pre-orders in exchange for £600, has announced that the tablet/phone will be launching on November 1 with a price tag of £495. Of course, that's a SIM-free price, so if you're willing to sign a contract, you can get the device for a whole lot cheaper. These dates represent quite a change from previous reports from Clove, which had the price at £559 and the release at November 17. Meanwhile, Play.com is offering neither price nor release but is still taking email sign-ups for those eager to hear more on the device as soon as information becomes available.
