The most anticipated phone of the season will be available on three major carriers when it hits the UK.

Early this morning, at an event in Hong Kong, Google and Samsung unveiled the long-awaited Galaxy Nexus. However, the companies were very vague when it came to a release and specific carriers for the phone. Only Japan's NTT DoCoMo was explicitly mentioned, with neither Google nor Samsung offering any hints as to who might carry the phone outside of Asia.

Today, Vodafone, O2 and Three all confirmed that they would be carrying the latest Nexus handset from Google and Samsung. We still don't have a release date (the most Samsung and Google would say last night was 'November') or a price for the handset, but at least we know which providers will be stocking it. The Galaxy Nexus boasts a 1.2GHz CPU, a 4.65-inch sAMOLED display with a 720p resolution, a 5-megapixel camera in the back, and support for either LTE or HSPA+, depending on the network.

The device also comes with the much anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich, also known as Android 4.0. ICS represents a complete revamp of the Android OS. Changes include facial-recognition unlocking; improved widgets, notifications, multitasking and voice typing; Android Beam, which allows you to share contacts, websites, apps, maps, and YouTube videos just by touching your phone against another NFC-equipped Android phone; built-in Google+; and an improved camera that features auto-focus, faster picture capturing, better low-light performance, integrated editing tools, and a panoramic setting.
