Galaxy Nexus Hitting O2 Next Month
O2 confirms a November launch, but not much else.
Last month Samsung and Google promised that the Galaxy Nexus would begin a global roll-out starting in November. If you've been waiting for the device since it was all but a twinkle in your RSS feed's eye, you might be worrying that the phone won't make it to the UK until December or later. After all, a global roll-out can take a while, right?
If that's the case, you needn't worry, as O2 has just confirmed that it will have the device on sale next month. The information was revealed via a landing page that just recently went live on the carrier's website. Sadly, the page doesn't offer any other information, such as a specific date, if there'll be pre-orders, or even a price for the device.
Of course, O2 won't be the only UK carrier with the Galaxy Nexus in its arsenal this Christmas. Not long after the device was announced did Vodafone, O2 and 3UK confirm their intentions to carry the phone.
The Galaxy Nexus boasts a 1.2GHz CPU, a 4.65-inch sAMOLED display with a 720p resolution, a 5-megapixel camera in the back, and support for either LTE or HSPA+, depending on the network. The device also comes with the much anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich, also known as Android 4.0. ICS represents a complete revamp of the Android OS. Changes include facial-recognition unlocking; improved widgets, notifications, multitasking and voice typing; Android Beam, which allows you to share contacts, websites, apps, maps, and YouTube videos just by touching your phone against another NFC-equipped Android phone; built-in Google+; and an improved camera that features auto-focus, faster picture capturing, better low-light performance, integrated editing tools, and a panoramic setting.
